His Excellency Eng. Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, Minister of Transport and Logistics Services, conducted an inspection tour across the Makkah Region, accompanied by His Excellency Mr. Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Duailej, President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation, and His Excellency Mr. Ahmed bin Sufyan Al-Hassan, Assistant Minister of Transport and Logistics Services, as part of preparations for Hajj season 1445H. The tour included the inauguration and launch of several advanced technologies and initiatives aimed at enhancing services for pilgrims. The visit began at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, where His Excellency reviewed the Airport Operations Center and operational readiness. He also inspected public transport bus stations, public taxi facilities, and the Haramain High Speed Railway station. The tour also included visits to the Media Center at the Hajj and Umrah Terminal Complex, Jeddah Islamic Port, and Al-Nawariyah Security Control Center. During the visit, His Excellency inaugurated a number of advanced technologies within the transport and logistics ecosystem. These included the Command and Control Center at Jeddah Islamic Port and a mobile control room designed to enhance compliance with regulations and requirements, and improve the quality of services provided to pilgrims. His Excellency also launched the Taxi App, which provides multiple transport options through modern vehicles equipped with high-quality services and multiple payment methods, including electronic payment. Additional technologies included the Automated Monitoring Vehicle technology, which achieves up to 99% accuracy in vehicle classification, as well as roadside vehicle inspection technology using mobile stations that enable rapid and accurate vehicle inspections. These initiatives come as part of the ecosystem’s adoption and application of advanced technologies to raise service efficiency and enrich the experience of pilgrims. His Excellency also launched a pilot system for monitoring rockfalls along Al-Hada mountain road using AI-powered cameras. The system initiates closure procedures for the road within 60 seconds of detecting any rock movement, as part of the transport and logistics ecosystem’s efforts to enhance the safety of pilgrims traveling to the Holy Sites. In addition, His Excellency Eng. Saleh Al-Jasser chaired the eleventh meeting of the Supervisory Committee, held as part of the intensive preparations and arrangements being implemented by the transport and logistics ecosystem in preparation for this year’s Hajj season.
