The Ministry of
Transport posted the total number of trips on the Kingdom's roads during April
which was 55 million, compared with the last March which was 56 million trips
which means a decrease by 1.8%.
The MOT monthly
report articulated around three main axes: estimating the service levels on
freeway links, the daily traffic report and the traffic accident report. This
report comes as part of the Ministry efforts to improve the Kingdom's road
network performance, according to its goal to achieving the best operating, and
improving the safety and reducing the accidents.
Jeddah-Makkah (Al-Harmain) road is the highest number of trips
As for the
report of estimating the service levels on road connections, two methods were
used through April 2018 traffic data. First, estimating the service levels for
the highest traffic jam on the freeway link based on the size and density. Were
Jeddah-Makkah (Al-Harmain) road came in
the forefront with 2.6 million trips, followed by Makkah - Jeddah road with 1.7
million trips then Dhahran - Jubail road with 1.5 million trips. Second,
estimating the service levels for the highest traffic jam on the freeway link
based on the average speed. Were Makkah - Jeddah road with a total of 2,736,701
vehicles, followed by Abu Hadriyyah - Bahrain road 1,123,860 vehicles and
Dammam - Riyadh 846,551 vehicles.
Increase the
traffic monitoring unit to 214 units during April
According to
the report, the Ministry activate 214 Traffic Monitoring Units during April
2018 compared to last April which was 138 units. Where two units have been
installed on Hafar Al-Batin - Rafha road No. 85 in Northern Borders and Rafha -
Linah - Samudah road No. 6262 also in Northern Borders.

from Al-Qassim road the highest in traffic average
The report
pointed out that more than 100,000 vehicles enter Riyadh from Al-Qassim road,
61,749 vehicles from Jeddah road and 59,093 vehicles from Al Kharj road. As for
Makkah entrance: 31,000 vehicles Makkah from Jeddah road,15,967 vehicles from
Taif road and 5,137 vehicles from Al-Sail road.
Riyadh - Bishah
road is the highest in exceeding the speed limit by 45%
The monthly report stated that the
speed of cars exceeded 140 km / h and the trucks exceeded 100 km / h. Where
Riyadh - Bilhah road came in the forefront by 45%, then Najran - Al-Slail road
by 43%, and Al-Howtat - Al-Aflaj by 39%.
The report also
showed the highest roads in exceed the trucks the speed limit, where Riyadh -
Al-Hofuf road by 87%, and Ad-Darb - Al-Qunfuthah road by 83% then Riyadh - Taif
road by 65%.
The highest
traffic average was on the bridge that located in Al- Dwan Tunnel by more than
25,000 vehicles per day than the Exit No. 8 bridge to the airport road also by
more than 25,000 vehicles per day. The traffic average on Al-Oyun - Al-Uqair
road exceeded 720 vehicles per day during April 2018.
The accidents
number reduced during April
According to the
monthly traffic accidents report for April 2018 that based on the received data
from the MOT branches in all the Kingdom regions, found that the accidents
injuries number decreased to 907 during April 2018, compared with the last
March which was 976.
In addition to
the Saher system, the comprehensive traffic accidents report was adopted to
linking these accidents with the traffic monitoring units and locate them
according to the Kilometric signs.
This program
provided accurate statistics and important information when discussing the
roads improvement or duplication requests also in discussing the development.
