As part of its initiative to raise road safety and reduce road fatalities by 25% in the year 2020, the Ministry of Transport signed a contract with TEC Engineering and its partner on Sunday to provide road safety advisory services.
The agreement was signed by the Minister of Transport Dr. Nabil bin Mohammed Al-Amoudi and Mr. Ali Ahmed Saleh, the founder and general manager of the company. The meeting was held in MOT Head building at Riyadh in the presence of His Excellency the Vice Minister of Transport Mr. Saad bin Abdulaziz Al-Khaleb, a number of the ministry leaders and the company's senior consultants.
The agreement includes establishing a head office and other branch offices in each of the Kingdom's regions in coordination with the technical and logistic support office in Ohio. Also, it includes evaluating, studying, raising road safety and developing technical manuals in road safety and traffic engineering. Moreover, establishing the main control room at the Ministry of Transport, modernize the control and guidance systems, organize safety procedures for extensions and services. In addition to training the Ministry's engineers in accordance with international best practices, localize expertise in traffic safety and provide integrated solutions to develop the work procedures in the Ministry and its branches.
TEC Engineering is one of the largest consulting companies in the United States of America specializing in traffic safety systems and its applications and has already completed more than 2500 safety projects around the world. It also won many international awards for innovative engineering solutions, especially in the intelligent transport systems field.
It is worth mentioning that the Ministry of Transport is currently in the process of awarding many contracts in the projects that are specialized in raising road safety, including qualitative interventions and innovative technical safety means, which will contribute to reducing road fatalities in the Kingdom, in parallel with the efforts of the other active partners, such as the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Health.
