The Ministry of Transport began setting up a warning and guide signs for the new speed limit on some roadways in response to the Ministry of Interior directives and in coordination with the General Department of Traffic and Roads Security to monitor the roads and reduce the accidents rate.
Mr. Turki Al-Toaimi the General Supervisor of Marketing and Corporate Communication stated that these signs will contribute to enhancing road safety. He explains “ MOT adopted programmes to enhance safety and conducts projects to reduce exceeding speed limits, like speeding bumps on some parts of the roadways. The guide signs will display the speed limits for different types of vehicles (small vehicles, buses, and trucks). The Ministry will start implementing these measurements in the first quarter of 2018 on the following main roads: Riyadh-Dammam Road, Taif- Riyadh Road, Riyadh- Qassim Road, and Makkah- Medinah Road.”
