Saudi supply Chain Conference starts in Riyadh today

The Saudi Supply Chain Conference will be held at Prince Sultan Grand Hall at Al-Faisaliah Hotel Riyadh today (Monday), organized by the Ministry of Transport with the participation of some officials, experts and specialists in the field of supply chain and logistics, representatives of major local and international companies. Also, those who are interested in logistics operations and supply chain from inside and outside the Kingdom, as part of the Ministry's ongoing communication with decision makers and those are concerned with the logistics sector.

 

The conference is in line with the Kingdom's vision to develop the logistics sector and to raise the kingdom's ranking in the logistics performance index. This Conference is a significant step to support and promote various logistics transport sectors which play an essential role in facilitating the movement of trade and mobility. Also, it is an opening of new trade routes to enhance the Kingdom's position as a unique logistics platform between the continents and enhance the overall development opportunities in the Kingdom.

 

Over two days, the conference will review a number of global practices and their application on Product Chain Movement Operations and supply management. Also, to discuss the risks facing the supply chains and logistics phases to improve inventory levels and information processes and transfers. The transport sectors seek to activate the geographical location of the Kingdom as a logistics platform and a starting point for linking the three continents. This is one of the initiatives that the entities and its partners seek to achieve through the transport projects procedures and infrastructure development, connecting them to the regional environment and activating the commercial movement of ports in addition to strengthening the partnership with the private sector.

 

The Saudi Supply Chain Conference is an opportunity for specialists and logistics professionals to learn about the latest developments and stages of all concerned parties after a series of workshops for the logistics platform were held in some regions in the first quarter of 2017. It aims to contribute to raising the management of the supply chain and logistics phases, and the application of efficient systems and operations to manage the entire logistics process, starting from the provision of raw materials - manufactured - to the distribution stages to reduce the production cycle time and raise the level of knowledge in these steps.

 

The conference brings together key decision makers, regional and local experts and specialists in the field of supply chain and logistics, as well as representatives of major domestic and international companies operating or relying on logistics, logistics traders, and industrialists to highlight the challenges that supply chains face on a daily basis.  Also, examine the latest practices to improve the performance and efficiency in the supply chains and develop the logistics sector to achieve a promising future for the Kingdom by taking advantage of its geographical location. It is worth mentioning that the global exchange which passes the Arabian Gulf is about 12%.

 

The Saudi Supply Chain Conference will review in detail the updates of the TIR to facilitate customs operations to the global economy and will show the importance of supporting the movement of products in the Kingdom. By the TIR Convention, international transit transport does not require national customs and security documents, and goods are not subjected to inspection, resulting in significant benefits to the entire transit process and limiting delays at border points and ports.​
