‏‎53 million road trips registered in October through 185 traffic monitoring unit​


‏‎ The Ministry of Transport posted the total number of trips on the Kingdom's roads during October which was 53 million, with an average of 1.709 million trips per day. Al-Slail to Riyadh road recorded the highest rate by 53% of the vehicles exceeded the speed limit.
 
‏‎ The ministry is interested in monitoring the traffic movement and announces the result through its monthly report that shows the average daily traffic on the Kingdom's road network. The data gathering is used to determine the next plan in expanding the construction of a road network according to the traffic density, analyzing the number of accidents and the rate of speed. This will help in prioritizing the high traffic road maintenance to provide an efficient land transport system and serve the economic development in all regions in line with the Kingdom's vision 2030.
 
‏‎ The competent departments of the Ministry of Transport monitoring the roads network using 185 units out of 261 units and the rest will be activated soon. Five Traffic Monitoring Units have been set at the entrances of Riyadh city, four on the entrances of Makkah, in addition to one unit in Makkah area and another in the eastern region.

‎ The total number of trips on the Kingdom's roads reached 53 million during 
October, with a daily average of 1.709 million. Al-Madinah -Makkah road was the highest with a total of 3.1 million trips followed by Makkah- Al-Madinah road. Makkah - Jeddah road came third with 1.8 million trips, and Jeddah - Makkah road with 1.7 million trips, then Dhahran - Jubail road with 1.7 million trips.

 
Makkah - Al-Madinah road is the highest in traffic with an average of 96,000 cars daily
‏‎ The report pointed out the heaviest traffic roads during October, indicating that the roads leading to Makkah came in the forefront, where Makkah - Al-Madinah road is the heaviest in traffic with an average of 95.953 cars, 9.410 trucks per day, compared to 99.749 car and 8,213 trucks in the previous month. Al- Madinah -Makkah road came second with 93,658 cars and 8,308 trucks, compared to 94,634 cars and 7,359 trucks in September. Makkah - Jeddah road came third with 56,723 cars and 3,177 trucks, compared with 55,791 cars and 2,841 trucks registered in September. 


‏‎ Al-Slail - Riyadh Road is the highest in exceeding the speed limit by 53%
‏‎ The monthly report stated that the speed of small cars exceeded 140 km / h, and the trucks exceeded 100 km / h, that means 53% of the total vehicles during October. This percentage is less than September where it was 54%, and August was 50%. Riyadh - Bisha road came second where the total of the vehicles that exceed the speed limit was 52% during October, 1% ​less than September, and higher than August, where the percentage was 52%.
 
58,177 vehicles enter Riyadh daily from Jeddah road
‏‎ The report pointed out that 58,177 vehicles enter Riyadh from Jeddah, 55,853 from 
Janadriya, 44.536 from Al-Kharj and 43.908 from Al-Qassim. In the last four months, the average of cars entering Riyadh (in order) was 58,859 vehicles came through Al- Qassim, 52,523 from Janadriya, 48,235 from Al- Kharj and 46,304 vehicles from Jeddah.
 
All roads lead to Makkah... More than 83.000 vehicles passed through all entrances
‏‎ On Makkah traffic during October, the report stated that 31,691 vehicles entered the city from Jeddah Road, 22,517 from Al-Sail road, 16,763 from Madinah road and 12,386 vehicles from Taif road. The peak hour of the day is noon on Jeddah road and Al-Sail road, while The peak hour on Taif and Medina start at seven and eight AM.
