Saudi Supply Chain Conference launched in Riyadh


Within the transport sector entities efforts in achieving the Kingdom's Vision 2030

 
In line with the vision of the Kingdom to develop the logistics sector and raise its ranking in the logistics performance index, Riyadh city is hosting the "Saudi Supply Chain Conference" from the 24 - 25 of Safar 1439 AH corresponding to the 13th -14th of November 2017 at Prince Sultan Grand Hall at Al-Faisaliah Hotel. The conference is part of a plan to support and develop the various logistics transport sectors which play an essential role in facilitating the movement of trade and mobility. Also, will open new trade routes to enhance the Kingdom's position as a unique logistics platform between the continents, In addition to promoting extensive development opportunities in the Kingdom.
 


 


Mr. Turki bin Abdullah Al-Toaimi, Advisor to the Minister of Transport, General Supervisor of Marketing and Corporate Communication of the Transport System, explained that all transport sectors aim to make the Kingdom a logistics platform and a link between the three continents. It is one of the tasks and initiatives that the transport sectors entities and their partners are seeking to implement through developing the procedures and the infrastructure projects to link them to the regional environment, increase the trade movement in the maritime ports in addition to strengthening the partnership with the private sector.


Mr. Al-Toaimi added that the Saudi Supply Chain Conference is an opportunity for specialists and logistics attentives to get acquainted with the latest developments and procedures of all the concerned parties, after a series of workshops that were held for the logistics platform in many regions in the first quarter of 2017. The conference aims to raise the level of supply management, impleme nt effective systems and processes to manage the entire logistics process starting from the provision of raw materials to manufactured products, until the distribution stages, to reduce production cycle. Mr. Al-Toaimi also pointed out that during the conference, a number of global practices will be displayed and applied to the products chain movement processes and the supply information management, in addition to discussing the risks facing the supply stages in order to improve stock levels and operations and information transfer.

 

For his part, Mr. Abdulaziz Bin Saleh Al - Sahli, Director General of the organizing company said that the Saudi Supply Chain Conference is the most significant gathering of regional and local decision-makers, experts, specialists and representatives of major local and international companies that work in the logistics operations, businesspeople, and industrialists. The Conference will highlight the challenges and variables facing the logistics and supply chains daily, discuss the latest practices to improve the performance and efficiency and develop the logistics sector. This gathering aims to achieve a promising future for the Kingdom and benefit from its unique geographical position in the Middle East, North, and East Africa, being in the center of the primary trade routes. It is worth mentioning that the global exchange in the Arabian Gulf is estimated at 12%.
 
The conference will display extensively the updates of the International Land Transport Convention (TIR) to facilitate customs operations in a global economy and its importance in supporting the movement of the Kingdom's products. The convention stated that the international transit transport does not require national customs and security documents, and goods are not subject to physical inspection, resulting in limiting delays at the border points.
The conference participants will present a number worksheets and research papers that will display important topics in the field of logistics and supply, such as: Advanced procurement methodologies (methods of supply chain operations control and monitor), the essence of supply chain management and value-added creation, Saudi youth engagement in logistics and supply chain, The future of land transport, along with the idea of future warehouses.
