MOT launches a system to monitor the contractors

The Ministry of Transport has launched the Bridges Management System (BMS), which is internationally accredited to inspect and evaluate the bridges and institutions. The new system was launched in the presence of HE Deputy Minister of Transport Eng. Saad bin Abdul Aziz Al-Khaleb, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Roads Eng. Majid Al-Arqobi and Assistant Undersecretary for Operation and Maintenance Mr.Fayez Al-Harbi and some engineers and specialists from the Ministry.The system is a step in the plan of using technology in the managing bridges and institutions data through economic engineering models. The system also includes models for predicting future defects and the required repairs on 4914 locations on the Kingdom's roads.Eng. Mohammed Al-Anzi, Director General of Bridges and Establishments at the Ministry of Transport, said that the importance of the system lies in the fact that it allows us to make a comparison and assessment of the condition of bridges in every administrative area. In addition, the possibility of calculating the cost of repairs or future budget scientifically and accurately for a specific period determined in advance, which will add to the management of infrastructure projects in the Kingdom.Mr. Al-Anzi added that this system displays the data for each element in the bridges, the structural condition of the components and the critical state. The engineers of the Roads Department in the Ministry of Transport can follow the work of the contractors in various areas of the Kingdom remotely.The launch of this system is part of the Ministry of Transport's strategy to improve the quality of roads and bridges, provide necessary services and maintenance to meet traffic safety requirements.
