The Ministry of Transport, represented by Roads Department in Makkah Region, completed the road leading to the Okaz market, established by the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage each year.
The Ministry of Transport Undersecretary Khamis Al-Ghamdi explained that the directives of His Excellency the Minister of Transport Sulaiman bin Abdullah Al-Hamdan are behind the fulfillment of this achievement by using all means to facilities everything for all the festival visitors. As well as direct support and supervision by His Excellency Deputy Minister of Transport Eng. Saad Al-Khaleb in all stages of implementation of the project to achieve the principle of joint integration with all government sectors.
It is worth mentioning that the work was around the clock during the last month of Ramadan to complete the project on time with the efforts of the ministry's team in cooperation with other parties. The project included the development of the intersection of the upper Taif / Riyadh fast road, in addition to completing the development of the road link that leads to Okaz historical market from a single road to a double road with 3 tracks per direction, connecting to the new road that is being implemented and leading to the new Taif airport.
The completion of the Okaz Market Road project and cooperation between the Ministry of Transport and the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage is the result of coordination and early planning to reach the first goal which is achieving the success of all the activities of the festival, that is one of the most important activities of tourism, heritage and culture in our dear country, attended by intellectuals and those interested in literature and culture and visitors from the region.
The Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage said that the 11th session of the Okaz market, which will start on the 18th of this month, will witness more than 100 different activities that represent the historical identity of the Okaz cultural and heritage market in the past. For the first time, Okaz will be connected to Makkah's visitors within the program "after Umrah trips," which include 40 trips targeting ten countries from Asia, Europe and America, benefiting 2200 tourists, with the participation of 50 tourist guides and eight tour operators.
