The Department of Survey and Evaluation in the Ministry of Transport has obtained total quality management ISO9001: 2015 certificate in Pavement Management System (PMS) after meeting the international quality standards. The system helps to automate the road maintenance work, which will increase the efficiency of expenditure and improves the quality of roads according to the Saudi Vision 2030.
The Minister of Transport, Dr. Nabil bin Mohammed Al-Amoudi, Deputy Minister of Transport for Roads Affairs Eng. Bader Al-Dalami, and the Undersecretary for Operations and Maintenance Eng. Tariq Al-Shami had a great impact on achieving this accomplishment. The certificate is considered an addition to the successes obtained by the Ministry on regional and global levels, especially after the Kingdom ranked second in the world in linking the roads in the competitive report of 2018, and jumped to the 30th rank out of 140 countries in road quality, in the same report.
This was done under the direction of the Director General of the General Department for Surveying and Evaluation Eng. Walid bin Mousaed Al-Dergham and Eng. Ahmed Bin Salem Al Shammari. Studies have been carried out, an analysis of the current status and a plan been set to achieve the objectives to follow up their implementation The plan included monitoring the contractor's work, directly and indirectly, along with analyzing the complaints from beneficiaries and measure the volume of satisfaction.
The plan was implemented over six months after corrective procedures were followed for each process, in order to achieve optimum performance in every level. This was in preparation for the external audit procedure request in accordance with ISO 9001-2015. Thus, LMS Certification Limited awarded the General Directorate for Surveying and Evaluation certification number (SA84463A) on "Road Survey and Evaluation Project".
